I got thinking today it’s not every time I have felt like giving thanks (Thank God it’s just a feeling).  Have you ever felt like giving thanks but the words won’t come out of your mouth? You may not always feel like it, but thank God we don’t work by our feelings! Start by thanking God for all the things he has done for you, and then it flows from within. Here is a story that illustrates the POWER of thanksgiving.

For three days multitude of men were gathered, along with them were women and children (but of course women and children were not counted as was their tradition then). Now the three days program had come to an end, they were famished. They didn’t notice that they had stayed that long without eating, because they were hanging on to every word He was saying. He was a very caring man He could tell that they were very hungry and so He called his disciples and after much running around they got seven loaves of bread and few  fishes (Mark  8: 1-7). Finally the amazing part

…and he took the seven loaves and gave thanks…So they did eat

and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets.

And they that had eaten were about four thousand… (Mark 8: 6,8,9)

This was the lifestyle of our Lord Jesus Christ, a life of thanksgiving, not minding what the situation around him was. After he gave thanks there was enough food to go around, not just that there was an overflow (Remember women and children were not counted). More people than we actually know were fed by the act of Thanksgiving.

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in

Christ Jesus concerning you (1 Thess 5:18).

Do you want to do the will of God? Know that thanksgiving is the will of God and it is God that worketh in us to will and to do of his good pleasure (Philippians 2: 13). It is the Holy Spirit that helps you to give thanks in Spirit and in truth, not just lip service, but thanksgiving from the depth of your heart. Whenever you don’t feel like giving thanks ask the HolySpirit to help you. I see God bringing you out of that situation as you thank him today.

As a Christian do you know that you can determine how you want your beginning to be like?  Little beginnings are not about starting small!!! What seems small to you might be big to the next person. It is about getting the starting point right, years from now you would want to look back at where you started from as being little, it shows that you have actually progressed. It is about starting right. This is what I could say I was able to learn from the beginning of all the beginnings;

Long ago in faraway Genesis 1: 1-3NLT there was a beginning;

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was

formless and empty and darkness covered the deep waters. And the

Spirit of the God was hovering over the surface of the waters.

Then God said, “let there be light”, and there was light.

ENGAGE THE HOLYSPIRIT; in the beginning God engaged the Holy Spirit in creation (Gen 1: 2). The Holy Spirit loves beginnings, bearing in mind that God is the Alpha and the  Omega (the beginning and the end ), the Author and finisher of our faith. Don’t forget that the Holy Spirit is our HELPER (John 14:16 KJV), the Greek word for comforter is Paraclete meaning one called alongside to help.

SEEK LIGHT; light signifies KNOWLEDGE. God said in (Hosea 4: 6) that His people perish for lack of knowledge. Seek God’s word and build capacity by seeking knowledge in what God has called you to do. That’s the part of CAPACITY BUILDING that was talked about in part 1.

SPEAK; man is a speaking spirit because he was made in the image and likeness of God, start speaking what God has spoken to you into reality, even when it doesn’t seem like it.

WRITE THE VISION; one quality that I appreciate in the life of Bishop David Oyedepo is ability to keep good record of what God has told him along with the date. Whatever God has told you write it down, for a time will come when you would have to refer to it and hang on to it in Faith. (Habakkuk 2: 2).

Easy said, than done …. Learn to lean on the one whose strength is made perfect in your weakness, knowing that it is not by your might, nor by power, but by the Spirit of the Lord (Zechariah 4: 6), it is also not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth but of God that shows Mercy (Romans 9: 16). King James English, May God help Us All!

Thanks for reading through, I appreciate your comments and suggestions, and I look forward to them. God Bless you.

So I was in my room, I didn’t mean to eavesdrop on my dad’s conversation, it just happened that I heard what he was saying, you will have to trust me on this one. Okay! What I heard him say triggered something in me, I know I have always heard this statement, but I just found out that the statement is not right neither is it true.

If I tell you what He said, it means we are both guilty of the crime of eavesdropping. I don’t know what the other person said to him. All I know is that he said “you are on your own”. Some people have abbreviated it to O.Y.O (on your own). As of yesterday, I now completely disagree with this statement. I am not on my own, “I am so taking it personal!”

In any battle you face in life or any circumstance you face in life, remember He that is for you, He that is in you, He that is with you. It is this same consciousness of God, that helped David win His battle against Goliath.

Then David said to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword,

And with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee

in the name of the LORD Of hosts, the God of the

armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied (1Samuel 17: 45)

The outcome of the battle as we all know, David killed Goliath (this was like our anthem in children church). David knew that God was with Him, and the battle was of the Lord (1Sam 17: 47), surely if the Lord is in a battle, it’s so certain that He would win.

Perhaps you happen to be sent on an official assignment by the President, you would be able to enter anywhere the President can enter, because you know you have the backing of the President. It was a phone call that brought this to my consciousness that I am not alone. Greater is He that is in me (1John 4: 4). With this few words of mine I hope I have been able to convince you and not to confuse you that you are not ON YOUR OWN!

What shall we then say to these things? If God [be] for us,

who [can be] against us? (Romans 8: 31)

Meditate on this scripture and know that you are not “on your own” in whatever it seems that you are going through. No Goliath can stand against you, when God is for you!

Please leave your comments and suggestions and I will surely act on them. Part 2 of little beginnings would be posted tomorrow.

I recently had a flash back of a growing christian (religious in a sense) who said that “I want to have a little beginning” . By this he meant that he wanted to start by working as a laborer, probably carry ponpon ( a local name for concrete), then move to selling biscuits and way through the ladder to become the president… Probably the type of the Goodluck Jonathan story, I presume. This sounds funny though, but there are people of this opinion or maybe not as extreme as this.

Like a lawyer will say, I put it to you that this opinion is not entirely true. Little beginning is relative. Today I will start with CAPACITY BUILDING… Beginnings, in our kingdom is dependent primarily on your capacity. Ephesians 3:20

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.

There is a clause there “according to the power that works in you”. The power there means the capacity you have built in your self, because the power of God is infinite, so it is the power you have in you that you will exhibit. If you can build your capacity to be faithful in little things like luke 16:10 said, “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much” ,God will trust you with big things. You dont have to start life by carrying blocks, you just have to be faithful in obeying the word of God and any experience God brings your way, probably like being a floor chaplain in your school and if you are faithful in it he will make you a blessing to a million congregation… God bless you.

Today is the first day of a new month, I still remember the 1st day of January like it was yesterday, talk about time flying! Remember that some people started this year with you, but as a matter of fact they are no more….statistics prove that people die each day, as for me I say, I have not done anything to deserve this, I don’t know about you. Maybe you slept by taking drugs, but let me remind you that that drug did not wake you up.

So here is the gist: time is ticking! There is a purpose as to why you are alive today. Discover that purpose and take steps towards it. I for one am taking a step with this blog, have you gotten a God given idea, now is the time to start. Remember the parable of the talent, many of us have buried our God given talent, now is the time to seek God in prayers. Paul charged timothy in 2Timothy 1; 7 to stir up the gift of God in him.

Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the

gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

There are seeds of greatness in you. Start by putting the deposits of God in you into use and see how it will multiply. Let me illustrate further with something that happened to me last year, few days to when we were to go home from school, I had to buy water several times from the buttery, when it was time to pack I was removing some things I had under the bed, only to discover that I had water under my bed, all the while when anyone asked me if I had water to spare my reply was NO. Many of us have hidden talents, like Paul said stir it up.
